The site is located in the place called Gurvan Modot, 13 km. south of Tsagaan Uul sum center. East of the site is Denjiin bulag, south is Ikh Uul and west is Khetsiin khyar.

The monastery was founded by the 8th reincarnation of Jalkhanz khutagt. Thus the monastery was called by the people Jalkhanzyn khuree (monastery of Jalkhanz), Khutagtyn khuree (monastery of Khutagt) and Gegeenii khuree (monastery of Gegeen (reincarnated lama)) .
The foundation site of the monastery was laid down in 1872. In 1873, Tsogchen temple was built.

Tsogchen temple, Choiryn dugan, temple of Darjaalin aimag,temple of Shadduvlin aimag, temple of Toislan aimag, Judiin dugan, temple of Dondlin aimag,Geden temple, a wooden house, Baruun lavran, Ikh semchin, Zuun lavran, Sumbengiin dugan (library), Tuvkhnii dugan, Sodovlin dugan, Jamsrangiin dugan (temple for Begtse Dharmapala), Gunsenkhorlyn dugan, Shalshiin dugan (temple for the Four Faced Mahakala ?), Ikh lavran, Zuun ordon, Manba dugan, Duinkhoryn dugan (Kalachakra temple), 7 stupas and tsam dance area.
