Description of location :
The site is located in Bayantes sum of Zavkhan province, on the bank of Baruun river in Tesiin river valley. Zaigaliin river valley is a beautiful forested area. Along the rear of the site lies Lamyn shovgor mountain with thinner tree cover. Buren Zendmeni ovoo on the mountain is worshiped by the locals. The latest ceremony was held by the Zaigal team locals, on the 12th of June this year (2007). GPS given for Bayantes sum centre

The site is clearly visible. Some of the temples were intact until 1970 and they were used as an artificial insemination centre for cattle. Later on wooden parts of the temples were taken apart for fire logs at the bread factory. At this time the wooden floors remained in two or three of the temples. The outlines of temples, residences for monks (on both sides of the site) and the fence are clearly visible. There were three main temples two of which measured 10M x10M and 11M x11M. One temple was located at the head of the others, so we assumed that this was the main temple. On the photo it does not look different, though. The ground is flat. 5km to the north-east of the site is the border with Tuva. Border signs are everywhere. It seems that the site is going to be restored as lumber has been unloaded on the site. Locals ie. Zaigal team people and representatives in UB, do not want a new temple built on the site. It is said that the drawings have been made with a budget of 12 million tugrugs. Every local family is to donate 40 thousand tugrugs. The representatives in UB will provide the remaining funds. There are many kinds of trees and bushes growing in an area in the valley to the north-east of the site, on the rear side of the Takhilt Tolgoi. Locals assume that the monks planted these trees and berry bushes. During socialist time the whole area was used for growing crops. The Bayan Tes agriculture unit was located here.
