According to Dagvasambuu, the disciplinary master at Dashchoinkhorlin Monastery (ДУАЦ 028), which is in the centre of Adaatsag sum, two old temples of the old Zuut monastery were repaired. At first monks held ceremonies there but currently nobody lives there. Only the Maitreya ceremony and rituals in honour of wrathful deities are held here occasionally. There are two other repaired buildings in the site where we suppose monks resided. There are two stupas and a monument with names of victims of the purge, erected in the recent past. There is a well south of the complex.
According to Chültem monk, the monks of the old Zuutiin jas managed to save some artefacts and books from the old assembly. An ovoo on the west side, is called Takhilgat ovoo with the one to the north being called Khongor and to the east is Mönkhtoin ovoo. There are two wells, one for drinking in the north and one for animals on the south. There are monk’s dwellings, which remain almost intact. In times past, the buildings on the old monastic site were used as warehouses for a agricultural wool cooperative. According to Chültem monk there aren’t any ceremonies being held in the renovated temples except for the Sakhius ceremony in honour of the wrathful deities, which is held every autumn. Apart from Chültem monk there is no other young monk from Gandandarjaalin. According to him there is almost noone still living who was a monk in the old Zuutiin Jas.
Interview with A. Luvsan-Chültem monk
A. Luvsan-Chültem monk (born 1974) is the present disciplinary master of Dashchoimbel datsan, Gandan monastery in Ulaanbaatar. The data provider became a monk of Gandandarjaalin in 1991. The monastery was revived in August 1990, at the initiative of old monks who belonged to the old Zuutiin Jas before the purges. These monks were as follows: Tsend, Damdinjav, Samdanprenlei, Yondonprenlei, Chimed etc. The head of the revived monastery was Tsend tsorj, the main disciplinary master was Damdinjav. The main protector of the new monastery was Gombo. For the opening ceremony many monks from Delgeriin Choir and many local people arrived. About 60 monks gathered in all and held a ceremony on that occasion. The two temples were repainted in 1990. The monastery operated between 1991 and 1999. The ceremony in honour of the wrathful deity was held in autumn. The Maitreya circumambulation was done during the summer. The western temple, which was repainted, was the Sakhius temple of the old Zuutiin Jas. The eastern temple was a shrine where robes and masks of the Tsam dance were kept.

The data on Active Temples was collected in 2006 (UB) / 2007 (National Survey). It provides a snapshot of the revival of the monasteries in Mongolia at that time. Undoubtedly many things will have changed since this survey was done.
