Дундговь аймаг Гурвансайхан сум. Таван жас. /Тавны жас. / Түшээт хан аймгийн Дайчин бэйсийн хошуу нутаг одоогийн Дундговь аймгийн Гурвансайхан сумын төвөөс зүүн тийш Хар нуур гэдэг газар энэ хурлын газар оршиж байжээ. Уг хурлыг анх үүсгэн байгуулсан тухайд Ч.Банзрагч, Б.Сайнхүү нарын “ Монголын хүрээ хийдийн түүх” / УБ.2004/ номын 54-р талд “... Таван хэмээх дацан Тэнгэрийн Тэтгэсэний хориннэгдүгээр / 1756/ онд Бумбат хэмээх газар байгуулсан...” гэж бичжээ. Уг дацан нь оршин тогтнох хугацаандаа хэд хэдэн удаа нүүдэллэсэн ба хамгийн сүүлд энэхүү Хар нуур гэдэг газар суурьшиж байжээ. Хэрхэн ямар нөхцөлд хэн үүсгэсэн нь тодорхойгүй энэ хурал нь цагийн хурал байсан бөгөөд 1920-оод оны сүүлч 1930-аад оны эхээр бүрмөсөн хаагдаж дахин сэргээгүй байна.

The monastic site is situated in the desert. Phone or electricity poles cross the site. It is clear that some stupas, small dwellings and one or two temples once stood on this monastic site. Blue and red bricks were found and a nice type of stone, too. It seems that a wooden temple stood in the south. The area is not dug so much. There was no trace of a well and an ovoo nearby. It was a small monastery as its dimension show. Religious objects were not found.

According to U. Khüderchuluun vice abbot of the present Gandanchoinkhorlin monastery (ДУГС 051), which is located in the centre of Gurvan-Saikhan sum, Tavan jas had about 30 monks.The first two abbots of Gandanchoinkhorlin monastery, namely D. Gonchigzaw and M. Tavkhai belonged to Tavan jas until 1916. Then, they went to Delgeriin Choir monastery (ДУДЦ 034) and lived there untill they were disrobed. The images of Lkham and Chagdar (TIB: phyag rdor) were saved from Tavan jas monastery and were placed as the main objects of worship to Gandanchoinkhorlin monastery when it was opened. These religious objects were saved by D. Gonchigzaw, who was the first abbot of Gandanchoinkhorlin monastery. However, these religious artefects are hidden from laymen and are not presently placed on the altar.
Data from the book ‘Gurvan tsagiin tüükhtei Gurvan Saikhan nutag mini’ by J. Sodnom, Ulaanbaatar, 2004 According to this book (p.18.), there were about 100 monks in this monastery. Doogiin Gonchigzaw, a monk from this monastery who survived the purges, lived here till 1916, and after for some years studied in Delgeriin Choir monastery. He saved some ritual objects and images of deities from the monastery by hiding them in a place near Bulagt-Gashuunii River. The main deities of the new temple, Lkham and Chagdar, were saved from Tavan jas by this Gonchigzav monk. Later they dug them out with the shepherd L. Shatar, and the objects were placed in the new monastery in the centre of Gurvansaikhan sum, Gandanchoikhorlin khiid (ДУГС 051). (He himself was the first abbot of this revived monastery.)
Another main initiator in reviving the monastery was M. Tavkhai, who also had also been attached to Tavan jas (and later also to Delgeriin Choir). He became the second abbot in the new monastery.
