Status of site at time of survey :
The monastic site can be divided into three parts (lower, middle and upper) according to the arrangement of buildings. Temples and jas courtyards seem to be situated in the middle part (at least 2-3 temples) and the lower and upper parts were maybe only used for residences. Stone foundations/bases, bricks and stones and some elevations, many scattered fragments of pot etc refer to the vivid monastic life. A Chinese coin and bullets of a gun were found at the site. No traces of digging. No terracotta roof tiles. Bor ovoo is situated on the background. Beside Bor ovoo, two smaller ovoos stand east of the monastic site. There is an interesting huge hole next to a building in the middle part. A Chinese coin was found indicating that this was the currency used at the beginning of the 20th century. Many fragments of pots and other brass objects were found. The lower part of the site had some buildings lined up in a row. The upper part of the site was maybe where there were monks residences, situated in rows, and yurts, too. The middle part of the site had two large and some smaller buildings, some of them maybe made of bricks. Two large courtyards with buildings were situated on the east side of the middle part. Some offering cups were also found on the site.

Notes :
According to L. Dashdorj (born 1918), who lived in the area of Altanbulag sum before he became a monk in Bogdiin Khüree, when he was 8, Bor öndöriin jas only had occasional ceremonies. Monks came from the countryside for these ceremonies. The monastery had two temples: Danjaalin was one and he did not remember the name of the other temple. One or two monks lived here to guard the temple and the offerings. According to Maidar this monastery was founded in 1827. Book by L. Khench-Yaakhav: Altan Nutag, p. 16. According to this source, Boröndör Sum (later became part of Altanbulag Sum) was founded by using the one temple building of Danjaalingiin jas and the materials from the two temple buildings of Bayartiin Khiid, which were pulled down and taken there.
